When I first decided to learn actionscript and flash, I opened flash 8 pro and instantly got lost I didnt have a clue where to start,so I started by looking at examples on the web and skipping through the help files,the more I looked and read the more intrigued I became with it and before long I found myself writing bits of actionscript code,now I think its great and find myself reluctant to move on to actionscript 3,I find it can be used to do almost anything web based and some even off the web,like applications, games, interfaces, animations(tweens), once a person learns it and knows what they are doing I reckon they can spend many a happy hour sat designing and coding stuff for the net or pc.
   I will try to bring some clarity to all the abbreviations and terms used in flash and actionscript in my explanations in the code mine forum or on the Whats What page in my interactive actionscript tutorial,although I have decided it is not going to be my main aim to try and teach you flash or actionscript,but to try and provide working solutions and resources that can be modified,used or referenced for you at your convenience.The forums(code mines) have boards set up for AS2 ,AS3 and flex, so feel free to post your questions and working snips of code on there,I will do my best to find you an answer for actionscript related questions,alternatively you may donate usefull information on the above subjects for other people to use and learn from.There is also a flash design discussions board were I would encourage flash designers to post there tips please to help all the flash community.As you read I am still making this website and coming up with new ideas for it,if there isnt much in the code mine today maybe tommorow there will be,I try to add a couple of usefull bits to the code mine everyday. CS3 and CS4 discusions and tips are also welcomed in the forum.Actionscript 2 maybe older than the other actionscripts but from what I have learned it is still very popular among a lot of people designers and coders alike and capable of producing some very content rich movies,applications and games,besides the fact its easy and verstile to work with and supported by a lot more browsers than the other actionscripts.If you are struggling getting to grips with actionscript 3 then actionscript 2 is as good a place to start learning as any.

   It may be worth noting that pressing the F1 key in flash 8 pro will bring up the macromedia flash Help files or you can use the menu at the top of the flash screen that says help.There is some very usefull information and examples contained in there.
